About Me

I’m Mary Kathryn Marcom. If you’re grieving—or trying to make sense of a loss that others don’t always see—you’re in the right place.

Grief found me early. When I was 20, I lost my cousin to suicide. That loss became a turning point in my life. I faced trauma, healed old wounds, and began learning what grief really is—and what it requires of us.

Over the years, I’ve experienced many forms of loss: friends and family to cancer, addiction, Alzheimer’s, suicide, and other illnesses. I’ve also navigated my own health journey as a trauma survivor and kidney transplant recipient. Grief has been my steady companion, and I’ve learned when grief isn’t acknowledged, it doesn’t disappear—it accumulates. When it is met with compassion and honesty, it can become a doorway to deeper clarity and connection.

When the pandemic began, I saw a weary and grieving world. That realization deepened my focus on Grief Awareness and Grief Literacy, and I expanded my practice to include more interactive and educational workshops.

My background includes social work and real estate, and I began coaching in 2010. I earned my International Coach Federation certification in 2019 and have served in leadership roles within the ICF San Francisco Bay Area Coaches Chapter. Community matters deeply to me. I’m also active in PEO International and in my church.

Outside of my work, I’m a devoted dog lover and enjoy the Bay Area’s many activities.

Above all, I believe grief deserves space, language, and care - whatever the loss is. It is an honor to witness people’s stories, helping them find steadiness and meaning as they move forward.
