About me
I’m Mary Kathryn Marcom. If you want to know more about grief or you’re grieving yourself, you’re in the right place. As a trauma survivor and kidney transplant recipient, I’ve worked through many grief events and walked with others through theirs.
Losing a cousin to suicide when I was 20 was a wake-up call for me to face trauma and old wounds, as well as learn about grief. I’ve lost friends and family to cancer, addiction, Alzheimer’s, and suicide, and I know that grief needs to be met when it occurs, or it can accumulate..
When the pandemic began, I identified a weary, grieving world and quickly realized that professionals were often not educated to manage grief with their clients or employees. I began to focus on Grief Awareness and Grief Literacy and to coach professionals and small business owners dealing with loss and change in the workplace.
I have a social work and real estate background, and I’ve had extensive training since I first began coaching in 2010, including becoming certified by the International Coach Federation in 2019. I stay involved in the community by serving as President of the Board of the ICF San Francisco Bay Area Coaches Chapter, as an active member of PEO International, and as a deacon at my church. I’m a dog lover and enjoy the many activities in the Bay Area.
Because I’m immunocompromised, I coach online, allowing my clients to schedule appointments at their convenience and to be coached in the comfort of their homes.
